  • The Stars Foundation visiting Action in the Community Environment (ACE) in Bungoma, Kenya...A man is transporting sugar canes on his bicycle. The area around Bungoma is very fertile but most of the land is used to grow sugar canes. Sugar cane is what is called a cash crop (or a man's crop), it is easy to grow and can be sold off in one go earning the farmer some easy cash. The trouble in Bungoma is that few women and children get to benefit from the cash and since the land is full of sugar canes they often go hungry and malnourished.
