  • Doofan Yende, an EVA volunteer greets children coming to be HIV tested as part of EVA Youth World. EVA provide HCT in three rural communities near Makurdi in Benue state. Benue state has got one of the highest HIV prevalence in Nigeria and EVA aim to target vulnerable children who would otherwise miss out of being tested for HIV and therefor not know their HIV statues.   • Compere Chris Coltrane presenting the next show on Westminster Bridge..The Health and Care Bill has been passed by Parliament and is due to go to the House of Lords. In protest against the bill which aim to deconstruct and privatise large parts of the NHS UK Uncut activists together with health workers and trade unionists blocked the Westminster Bridge from 1pm til 5.30pm.

  • Disability Action Network (DAN) is based in Hargeisa in Somaliland and a charity working with disabled children and young people helping them to access health care and provide them with therapeutic rehabilitation. DAN supply and fit orthopaedic appliances and physiotherapy when needed. Somaliland is a very poor country and to many not living in the capital Hargeisa health care is very difficult to come by..DAN received the STARS Foundation Health Award in 2008 for outstanding work. Here a little boy suffering from  cerebral palsy, is receiving physiotherapy, massage to his hands and arms.

A specialist working for DAN is finishing off a leg prosthetic in their work shop in Hargeisa.

  • The Stars Foundation visiting the Kenya Society for the Blind.The Kenya Society for the Blind is a long standing charity which works to make blind people able to function in the community as a whole. They support children in schools and supply them with Braille writers, specialist teachers,glasses for visually impaired,counseling and other much needed tools. .Here a technician at Kilimani Primary school in Nairobi is servicing Braille writers.

The London Stock Exchange was attempted occypied in solidarity with Occupy Wall in Street in New York and in protest againts the economic climate, blamed by many on the banks. Police managed to keep people away fro the Patornoster Sqaure and the Stcok Exchange and thousands of protestors stayid in St. Paul's Square, outside St Paul's Cathedral. Many camped getting ready to spend the night in the square.

  • Activists met at Waterloo Station before heading to off to catch a train to Stratford le-Hope in Essex. Most of the activists had no idea where the direct action was going to take place, only on the train was this tightly guarded secret told to them. Here activists make their way from Monument to Fenchurch Street train station, still unaware of their final destination far outside of London...Crude Oil Awakening is a coalition of climate change activist groups. On Saturday Oct 16 they shut the only entrance to Coryton oil refinery in Essex, UK with the aim of highlighting the issues of climate change and the burning of fossil fuels. The blockade meant that a great number of trucks with oil were not able to leave the refinary during the day of action.

  • Radiographer Jane helps Seamus out of his coat and help him settle in to have his chest x-rayed. The NHS Mobile X-ray Unit visiting St Pauls Church drop-in  in Onslow Square, London SW7. The rates of tuberculosis in London are higher than any other Western European capital and is a major health problem. Tuberculosis is highly contagious, it is treatable, but in the event of no treatment it is often deadly. The MXU, the Mobile X-ray Unit, is a facility run by the NHS. The MXU is a Tuberculosis screening service on wheels where people can have their chest x-rayed and within minutes be either cleared of TB - or in case of any TB symptoms showing up on the X-rays, be referred to a hospital for further tests and possible treatment. The MXU is aimed at hard to reach groups like homeless people, drug or alcohol abuser and prisoners. The van is the only one in the UK and operates around London where it visits hostels, prisons and community centres where groups of hard to reach clients usually gather. On the van is a team of nurses, radiographers, social and outreach workers and expert technicians..The MXU van is a part of the NHS department Find and Treat.
