  • A cataract operation underway. A cataract can be replaced in under ten minutes and can give the patient full recovery of their vision. The Kenya Society for the Blind is a long standing charity which works to make blind people able to function in the community as a whole. They support children in schools and supply them with Braille writers, specialist teachers,glasses for visually impaired,counseling and other much needed tools. .KSB fund the running costs of a specialist unit at Mbagathi Hospital, a state run hospital in Nairobi. The unit perform cataract operations on a regular basis, here a woman partially blind on both eyes is having the first of two new lenses put in instead of her own lenses, an operation performed by Dr Kipet. The operation takes 10-15 minutes and the patients are usually send home again after one night and will be able to see again almost immediately.

  • Technical crew work on Aurora in Factory Settings workshop weeks before the bear will walk the streets of London. Aurora is a giant polar bear puppet, the size of a London double decker bus. The bear is the brain child of Greenpeace UK and it will be the center piece in the Greenpeace campaign Save the Arctic  global day of action in London Sept 15th. Aurora is designed by Christopher Kelly in collaboration with props designer Simon Costin and made by Factory Settings in East London.

Warren and Sally are one of the few families which is run by a couple. ..Home from Home provide security for children who are either orphans or have been abandoned, neglected or abused . Many of the children have suffered severe abuse and more than half are HIV positive. Home from Home set up foster homes of no more than six children in local communities where there is a need and employ women to run the homes and become the registered foster mother of the children.

The girls are friends and waiting to go on a tour to a local college to give a talk and read poems about their lives.

  • The Stars Foundation visiting S.A.F.E in the Loita Hills near the Tanzanian border in Kenya...It is mainly Maasais who live in the Loita Hills up above the Serengeti plains. They live in small villages and communities called bomas and live mainly of raising and selling live stock such as cattle and goats. Its a very remote region in Kenya, hard to get to without a four wheel drive with very little infrastructure and up till 2010 no mobile phone network. The Maasais are well known though out Kenya and the world for their colorful clothing and their way of keeping their old traditions alive...Early moring in the Loita Hills. Two boys are bringing out their goats for pasturing.

They support children in schools and supply them with Braille writers, specialist teachers,glasses for visually impaired,counseling and other much needed tools. .Three boys, blind and visually impaired, at the Kalimani Primary School, a regular school which they attend. The paper is a poem typed in Braille which they are going to read out at local college at an event with other blind children.

Many of the Knitting Nanas dressed up as suffragettes to celebrate the 100th aniversay of women's right to vote and the march/parade made a great spectacle on the sea front. Block Around the Clock - fourty eight hours of party, work shops, yoga, sleeping  and anti-fracking campaigning in front of the gates to Cuadrilla's fracking site in New Preston Road, Lancashire. The Cuadrilla site in Lancashire in a highly contested site, almost ready to extract gas. Block Around the Clock is part of a nationwide campaign to prevent fracking in Lancashire and across the England ( fracking is either banned or put on hold  in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.)

The Highbury Opera Theatre is putting on  a fully-staged London premiere of Lost in the Stars, Kurt Weill's final 1949 musical, with words by Maxwell Anderson, based on Alan Paton’s novel Cry, the Beloved Country. The show includes children from Gayhurst Community school in Hackney and schools from London Borough of Islington. The cast is led by South African operatic baritone Denver Martin-Smith and Zimbawean Lucky Moyo, who has toured the world as the lead voice of the popular a capella group Black Umfolozi. The large chorus is anchored by Eclectic Voices. The production is conducted by Scott Stroman and directored by Jean Lacornerie.
