  • The streets are almost empty on the first day of lockdown 5th of Novemeber 2020, London, United Kingdom. The view from Shorteditch in East London to the City of London. The streets were unusually quiet and almost empty on the morning of the first day of the national lockdown. The UK Govenrment introduced a 4 week lockdown from November 5th - December 2nd to combat the cororan virus outbreak. It is the second national lockdown in the UK.

It was a noicy but peaceful protest with very few arrests and no injuries. Here a small group has blocked the shop Dorothy Perkins in Oxford Street, demanding that Green, the owner, pay all of his taxes.

Traffalgar Square turned into a big party in the early evening. At one point however police felt in necessary to move in and protect the Olympic Clock in the sqaure from being damaged. This led to angry outbursts from the people in the sqaure and police decided to clear the square which led to skirmishes between police and activists.

Topshop is owned by Sir Philip Green whos is seen by many as not payning his due taxes and his retail shops often have been a target for UK Uncut activists.

Only a certain number of shoppers are allowed into the market, controlled by council workers because of the corona pandemic and lockdown. The UK Government introduced a 4 week lockdown from November 5th - December 2nd to combat the corona virus outbreak. It is the second national lockdown in the UK. It is the third day of the national lockdown and the lockdown restrictions mean that social restrictions are in place including social distance, people are only allowed to meet outside, in pairs and only if keeping social distance. Only if they already live together or have formed a social bubble can they interact freely.

The parade,part performance part protest, was to highlight the melting ice caps and the increasing and potentially devastating oil drilling in the arctic sea. Shell is one of the companies drilling and the march through London ended up outside Shell London HQ to draw attention to their oil business in the arctic. Aurora, the biggest polar bear in the world represents all endangered species in arctic.
