Nairobits is a charity teaching kids from Nairobi's slums It and train them to get work in the IT sector.Every year 1mill young people graduate and leave school and only 1/3 have any hope of getting a job. FGM is a traditional rite of passage for girls into womanhood. FGM has many forms in Kenya, in the Loita Hills FGM involves that the girl's clitoris and inner and outer labia is cut of, an extremely painful and dangerous procedure with  liflong medical and psychological implications. Here a teacher is explaining about HIV/AIDS and how to protect oneself from being infected.

Dixon is a member of the S.A.F.E theatre group. S.A.F.E is a charity which educates children and young people about life skills and how to protect themselves from HIV and other STIs through performance. They also do performances about Female Genital Mutilation, an old tradition amongst the Maasais in Loita and a very brutal and controversial custom which S.A.F.E is trying to eradicate.

Wilson is also a member of the S.A.F.E theatre group. Here weddng guests are enjoying a performance by S.A.F.E about Female Genital circumcision. S.A.F.E.  is a charity which educates children and young people about life skills and how to protect themselves from HIV and other STIs through performance. They also do performances about Female Genital Mutilation, an old tradition amongst the Maasais in Loita and a very brutal and controversial custom which S.A.F.E is trying to eradicate. There is no electricity other than a generator which runs two lights used for the show.

The three men has been to the cattle market in Ilkering and are walking back home, a good 6 hour walk. The pick-up truck run by S.A.F.E is almost fully loaded and only the front man gets his much wanted lift.

  • Wilson's wedding day...Young men called Morans are competing in jumping as high and straight as possible, a copetitive dance called adumu, at Wilson's wedding. The Morans are you men almost ready for the coming of age ceremony held every 10-15 years. The wedding is a big day for everybody with lots of dancing and celebration...It is mainly Maasais who live in the Loita Hills up above the Serengeti plains. They live in small villages and communities called bomas and live mainly of raising and selling live stock such as cattle and goats. Its a very remote region in Kenya, hard to get to without a four wheel drive with very little infrastructure and up till 2010 no mobile phone network. The Maasais are well known though out Kenya and the world for their colorful clothing and their way of keeping their old traditions alive.

The girls are friends and waiting to go on a tour to a local college to give a talk and read poems about their lives.

The three men has been to the cattle market in Ilkering and are walking back home, a good 6 hour walk. The pick-up truck run by S.A.F.E is almost fully loaded and only the front man gets his much wanted lift.

S.A.F.E is a charity which educates children and young people about life skills and how to protect themselves from HIV and other STIs through performance. They also do performances about Female Genital Mutilation, an old tradition amongst the Maasais in Loita and a very brutal and controversial custom which S.A.F.E is trying to eradicate.

The girl had been abused by a local boy, aged 12, and her mother had brought her to the centre for treatment. ..Childline Kenya is a phone helpline for children and adults seeking information and support in cases of child abuse. GVRC is one of their referral partners in the work to protect children.

They support children in schools and supply them with Braille writers, specialist teachers,glasses for visually impaired,counseling and other much needed tools. .KSB fund the running costs of a specialist unit at Mbagathi Hospital, a state run hospital in Nairobi. The unit perform cataract operations on a regular basis, here a woman partially blind on both eyes is having the first of two new lenses put in instead of her own lenses, an operation performed by Dr Kipet. The operation takes 10-15 minutes and the patients are usually send home again after one night and will be able to see again almost immediately.

  • The Stars Foundation visiting Action in the Community Environment (ACE) in Bungoma, Kenya...13 year old Bryan is tending to his vegetables (Amaranth) a vegetable full of nutritious vitamins and fibres. Bryan is taking part in one of ACE's programmes using a simple drip-drip irrigation technique where 20l water containers are raised of the ground and connected to tubes running down through the field. The tubes are perforated so that they irrigate the field and crops evenly as the water runs though the tubes and spurts onto the ground. This very low-tech system helps Bryan save a lot of hard labour in collecting and distributing water to his crops and the result is a fertile and busy field of Amaranth. Here Bryan is filling up his water containers used to drip feed his plants with water.

  • The Stars Foundation visiting ACE in Bungoma, Kenya..Girls who are all taking part in child-to-child (CTC) workshops learning life skills and how to grow their own vegetables. The girls either grow them at the school, like this patch of Managu or at home to supplement their daily food. Some of the girls get very little food at home and ACE in collaboration with the school try to give the girls access to nutritious food. Managu (Kikuyu) is a vegetable rich in vitamin C and iron. The paper is a poem typed in Braille which they are going to read out at local college at an event with other blind children.

Members of a local association of HIV positive men breed fish in the pond to supplement their diet with much needed nutrition. The men catch the fish both to feed themselves and their families and also when they have the surplus to sell in the local market to make money. A small baby fish, the men has recently harvested the bigger fish and now wait for the small ones to grow big. The pond is surrounded by fileds of sugar canes.

  • The Stars Foundation visiting Action in the Community Environment (ACE) in Bungoma, Kenya...A boy is bringing goats feed to Metrine Juma Muuangu's goats.  The dairy goats are of a special breed which has a very high milk production capability and the goats, a male and female, have been donated to him by ACE to help her supply her family with enough milk to sell as well as feed her family of 9. The off-spring of the two goats are then donated to other designated recipients in the community to spread the benefit of the goats wider.
