Philippines - Negros Occidental - fireworks in the making
A worker at Jesus Fire Crackers is on smoke break, a few meters from the shelter where the explosives are kept and the assembly line is. He does not use any protection and his hands are covered with gun powder. The highly explosive powder consists of Potassium, white aluminum and black sulfur. The fire works factory is hidden away in the woods near Hinigaran. Fire work is used a lot in the Philippines for celebrations and the festive season in Nov- Dec is a busy time for the fire works industry.
