First Day Of Julian Assange's Two Day Appeal Hearing Against Extradition At The Royal Courts Of Justice In London

The two-day hearing in the high court in London will consider whether Australian-born Assange, who has been held in Belmarsh prison for almost five years, can be granted leave to appeal against an extradition decision made in 2022 by the then home secretary, Priti Patel. The founder of WikiLeaks is facing 175 years in prison if extradited to the USA for publishing and exposing leaked information on the USA and their allies at the time of the Iraq war. Julian Assange first spent 7 years in the Ecuadorian embassy in London before being arrested and incarcerated in top security Belmarsh Prison.
