Rainbow Warrior on patrol in UK waters.

In September-November 2021 The Rainbow Warrior patrolled the Marine Protected Ares around the southern tip of the UK, to document and monitor the fishing that is continually going on. Bottom trawling, long lining, gillnetting and beam trawling was taking place in areas protected only by name.

Greenpeace also intercepted a fish oil tanker coming from West Africa with tons of fish oil to be used for farmed salmond, pigs and pets.

Marine Protected Areas ( MPAs) are designated areas around the British Isles for the fish stock to replenish and to regenerate the marine fauna. However fishing continues to go on in the MPAs, further depleting the fish stock, legally as there are no legally binding laws preventing fishing from going on. Greenpeace are calling for bottom trawling and other destructive fishing methods like flyshooting to be banned in the MPAs.
