Greenpeace and the Ship MY Esperanza in the North Sea
Crew from the Esperanza retrieve a swimmer dropped earlier as part of the campaign to save the oceans. In support of Greenpeace UK's Protect the Oceans campaign, the Esperanza sets sail to patrol Marine Protected Areas in and around Dogger Bank in the North Sea, monitoring and documenting trawling and scallop dredging. Bottom trawling is not allowed in the marine protected areas but pelagic trawling is, under strickt quotas set between the EU and Britain.
