Fuerteventura, part of the Canary Islands, is aproximately 100 km from the coast of Africa.
In 2005-06 around 20.000 people crossed the sea to the Canaries in the hope of a better life. It is a dangerous trip and not all make it. These images were taken in the summer of 2005.
