Flooding in South Yorkshire, England.

The village Catcliffe. 27th June 2007
About 100 homes in the villages of Catcliffe, Whiston and Canklow were evacuated by police officers
during the night of the 5th of June. Water was pumped out of the nearby 35-acre Ulley reservoir and
into the river Don south of Rotherham after engineers signalled a warning over the dam wall. The excess
of water from rain and the pumped out water made the river Don and the drains overflow and flooded
much of the village. Many villagers felt they had been sacrified with most of the rescue efforts
concentrated on saving the reservoir,- having said that, - had the the dam burst the village
could have washed away entirely.

Many of the residents who left their homes were taken to the safety of
nearby Dinnington Comprehensive School.
