Bail Busters
5 climate activists, Jonathan Stevenson, Oli Rodker, Paul Morozzo, Ellen Potts and Mel Evans were all arrested jumping
on a coal train June 13. The train was heading for Drax, Britains biggest coal power plant and up to 40 climate activists jumped the train and stopped it in protest against the use of coal and in an attempt to highlight the huge issues with coal power and CO2 emmissions. They were all granted bail, but bail with the condition of not going near any coal power plants or the Hoo Peninsula, the area where Climate Camp 2008 was set. The Climate Camp is an integral part of the struggle against coal power plants and the proposed expansion of plants so in defiance of their bail conditions they decided to go to Climate Camp anyway and risk being arrested for busting their bail. The Climate Camp on the Hoo Peninsula in Kent is only a few km from Kingsnorth coal power plant owned by E.ON |
